Things to know about holding events @ Clinton’s:
19+!! You generally
MUST be at least 19 years of age to play here or attend events here! The room
may be RENTED for a flat fee for all ages shows where wristband policy will
be in effect. This must be PRE-ARRANGED. (For more information about all ages
events, contact Fletcher)
We love supporting the local talent in Toronto…
Nonetheless, frankly we
cannot afford to hold events if the bar makes no cash. In order to maintain
the space we need to be sure that your event will not end up costing us more
than we make. All the proceeds from whatever cover you charge at the door is
YOURS. However BEWARE there are MINIMUM BAR SALES REQUIREMENTS!!!
Minimum Bar Sales Policy
The idea behind the Minimum
Bar Sales Policy is to ensure bands are promoting their shows and bringing people
out.
Sunday through Thursday
the Bar Minimum is $500
(For example 50 people having
two beers each, keep in mind ALL 50 will need to have TWO beers).
Friday and Saturday the
Bar Minimum is $1000.
In either case, if the bar
falls short of this, you would be responsible for HALF of the DIFFERENCE. So,
if the bar sells $400 on a Thursday it will cost you $50. If the bar sells the
Minimum Amount the room costs you nothing.
We do not require a deposit
in advance, but do require that you leave a credit card (or a cash deposit if
a credit card is not available) at the bar at the beginning of the night. Anything
(food/booze) purchased in the back room counts towards the sales. The whole
system is computerized, so you can ask at any point during the night what the
bar sales are at and the bartender can give you an exact number.
Remember that the minimum
sales are the bare minimum and higher sales will benefit your band in booking
future gigs.
Also note that we do not
get a walk-in crowd in the back bar, EVERY PERSON there will have to be brought
in by YOU. Therefore, if you’re coming from outside Toronto and you don’t
have a draw in Toronto you will end up playing solely for the sound-guy and
the bartender -not fun (-nor exciting).
We also recommend that before
you book an event with us, you drop by the bar one evening AFTER 8pm, see what
it’s like, where it’s located and then decide if this is the right
place for your show.
If you have any questions
or would like to discuss details give Fletcher a call he would love to tell
you more.
Other than that…
It’s up to you, you
can start your first set when you like, but nothing goes past last call (2am).
If you have an opening act
please make sure that you let us know well in advance so we can update our website
calendar and inform the media (we advertise weekly in NOW magazine).
And pleeeeeeease…remember, Clinton’s won't fill up by itself, -
so Promote your night!
Poster, Flyer & Call
all your friends & friends-friends & so on…
Now then
…About the Room, SOUND CHECK & Equipment:
In the space there are about
60 seats that may be used or removed.
The legal capacity is about
100 people.
There is a full menu available,
(see Clinton’s menu link) however, it is bar service only.
We supply our own in house
sound techs, they are all excellent techs but you are welcome to bring your
own as well if you so desire.
Our sound tech arrives at
7:00 P.M. to set up. So please make sure you're here at 7:00pm to set up.
***If you wish to begin
sound check earlier for some reason LET US KNOW, as nobody will be allowed in
the back room prior to 7pm unless otherwise arranged with Fletcher.
We have a great sound system
and have been told the acoustics in our space are some of the best in the city.
